tldr: Good game, TERRIBLE remaster. Rockstar Launcher nonsense, broken NPC AI, 30FPS-dependent missions, ugly yellow filter and new flying controls are straight from hell. And yes, this is the "fixed" version in 2026. I played Vice City DE and while obviously not perfect, I didn't find that one nearly as buggy or annoying as San Andreas. So I was expecting more or less the same experience here. Oh man. There are SO many things wrong with this version. None of them necessarily make the game completely unplayable on their own, but eventually they pile up to the point where you're constantly noticing something that shouldn't be happening. First of all, this is a singleplayer game that requires a Rockstar account and an active network connection just to play. If you plan to play on Steam Deck, you have to open it on a PC (or desktop mode) first, connect it to Rockstar's launcher and convince the game that yes, you are indeed allowed to play the singleplayer game you purchased. My biggest issue with this game: The NPC AI is all over the place! Cars randomly spin around, get stuck or drivers behave completely strangely. It feels like every time I drive somewhere, there's at least one car having a complete mental breakdown. The original obviously had its fair share of weird drivers, but that happened occasionally. In this version, it feels like a regular part of traffic. This is a HUGE problem because 80% of the game you're driving somewhere, carrying things or even worse, trying to follow an NPC who stops and waits for other NPCs to figure out how to act normal so they can continue driving. IT'S GENUINELY TERRIBLE! This happens SO OFTEN that driving around the city stops being fun. The pedestrians are no better either. They constantly freak out, start screaming or running away for absolutely no reason. Even the NPCs inside buildings go crazy. You try to eat pizza? Suddenly you've got a whole horde of braindead NPCs screaming and running around in the background like the freaking apocalypse just started. It completely ruins the atmosphere. I played the originals ever since I was a kid, so I know this is not standard gameplay. There is something seriously wrong with NPC AI in this game. And they haven't fixed it. I don't think they intend to. Just be aware if you plan to buy. So many collision issues. You see an obstacle and think "Okay, I'll avoid that" Wrong! The collision box apparently exists somewhere completely different from the object you're looking at, so you end up walking into an invisible wall. Thank god this one is relatively rare, but it's still ridiculous when it happens. Even after all the supposed fixes, you STILL have to lock the game to 30FPS for certain missions just like in the OG version. Driving school, flying school, diving etc are ALL problematic if you're playing with 60+ FPS. Nothing says Definitive Edition quite like having to recreate the hardware limitations of a 2004 game! Then there's the new aesthetic, which I actually liked at first. But then I realized the entire game is just... yellow. Everything has this weird yellow color over it, like someone put the Mexican movie filter on the whole game. After a while you really start noticing how artificial it looks. Every hour of the day looks like sunset and it just becomes boring to look at. And don't even get me started on flying. They changed the controls completely for no apparent reason and honestly, I don't understand what problem they were trying to solve. Nobody was asking for this. The original controls were fine and people were already familiar with them. I could genuinely keep going... This version is still playable, obviously. I had fun because, well, it's San Andreas. But that's exactly why this port is so frustrating. I'm playing it in spite of the Definitive Edition, not because of it. And this would be much easier to shrug off as "just play the original" if Rockstar hadn't removed the original versions in the first place. The original deserved better and so did we as players. Instead, we're left with this version and a $100 scalper market for the old keys.

Одна из главных игр моего детства. Вот Vice City мне понравилась больше - она посерьезнее да и вообще сам сюжет неплох. Тут же прикрутили всего - банды, правительство, инопланетяне, джетпаки, вьетнамцы, китайцы. В самом начале игра про одно, а где то в середине игра сворачивает на тропу какого-то безумия. Это же сделаюи они в GTA V. На PS2 в нее играл годами, но самое смешное - так и не смог пройти этих лоурайдеров. В детстве инглиш был вэлдан, поэтому шо и куда тут жать я не понимал. Мне лично данное издание понравилось даже в том состоянии, каким оно было в момент выхода. Баги были, графон очень странный, но суть и геймплей не поменяли, а значит это все та же San Andreas. Давайте так: игра 8.5/10. Издание 7/10. Рекомендую к прохождению

Turning all settings to low still doesn't allow for a stable 60fps. I can get past all the characters looking like play-dough, but damn. How do you take a game from 2004 and make it hard to run on modern systems? To make it worse, getting the original game on Steam is no longer possible because they delisted it. Retarded.

После полного прохождения могу сказать одно: San Andreas всё ещё остаётся легендой. Даже спустя столько лет история CJ, Grove Street, предательств, погонь и захвата территорий отлично работает. Сам сюжет я прошёл с большим удовольствием — персонажи запоминающиеся, миссии разнообразные, а сам Сан-Андреас огромный и по-прежнему интересный для исследования. Что касается именно Definitive Edition, тут всё неоднозначно. Графика стала приятнее, увеличили дальность прорисовки, добавили современное управление и немного улучшили интерфейс. В целом играть стало удобнее, особенно если раньше привык к классической версии. Но назвать это идеальным ремастером у меня язык не повернётся. Иногда встречаются странные баги, проблемы с физикой и визуальные косяки. Некоторые модели персонажей выглядят довольно спорно, а отдельные моменты явно выдают возраст оригинальной игры. Даже сейчас в отзывах Steam можно встретить жалобы на оптимизацию и микрофризы. При этом после прохождения я всё равно остался доволен. Это именно San Andreas, а сама игра настолько хороша, что даже неидеальный ремастер не смог испортить впечатления. Музыка, атмосфера начала 2000-х, огромная карта, прокачка CJ, машины, самолёты, безумные миссии — всё это до сих пор приносит удовольствие. Итог: если вы никогда не играли в San Andreas — однозначно рекомендую. Если проходили оригинал, то Definitive Edition имеет смысл брать скорее ради более современного управления и графики. Моя оценка: 8/10. Grove Street до сих пор жива. 🚗💨

Si bien este remaster sigue siendo horrible pese a los intentos bastante pobres de dignarse en arreglarlo, San Andreas sigue siendo un clásico con todas las letras, para ser un juego de 2004 envejeció en medida bastante bien porque salvo algunas cosas, el juego no se siente ni tosco o ortopédico de jugarse a día de hoy. Si por X o Y nunca lo jugaste te lo recomiendo solo en un descuento razonable, ya que este "remaster" solo arruina demasiado el juego, no está tan roto como cuando salió pero sigue siendo bastante deficiente
