If you're going to commit to playing this in VR, you MUST mod the game to experience it at it's full potential. The vanilla version of Skyrim is rough but a good foundation for all the amazing modders out there to work their magic. You will NOT enjoy this game if you play the Vanilla VR port. Hence the mixed reviews, if everyone took their time to download and install a good mod pack before reviewing, this game would be a 11/10. If you have a lower end pc or just want to experience the game as Vanilla as possible with some great gameplay, quality of life improvements and minor graphics tweaks check out the FUS mod list by Kvitekvist and Cangar. It runs great and is very light which means easy to install, and fast to boot up. If you have a high end PC and want to push it to it's limits, then the Mad God Overhaul by Moyse06 mod list is a must, it replaces almost every asset in the game with higher quality textures and meshes which makes it look unbelievably beautiful, like a modern AAA game. The Skyrim VR Overhaul by valentueur is right in between the MGO and FUS mod list, this list boots up and runs surprisingly well. You can always configure these mod packs to your liking by following the read me and using your mod manager program. You will be using either Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex to manage these mods. Wabbajack is also needed to d/l and install most of these mod lists.

60 bucks for a game that does not have working controllers by default is a f*cking scam. Everything has to modded for the game in order to be good, first then can you fully enjoy it. Shame on you Bethesda! I want to give it a thumbs up, but the developers ignorance and greed stops me from doing it. All hail the modders who made this game actually playable, you make the world a better place!

Only buy this game if you plan to mod it... and not just MOD it... I mean mod it so much.. that it's MORE MOD THAN SKYRIM.

It is completely unacceptable for a $60 game to be unplayable in an unmodded form. Being unable to make it through the intro cutscene without the physics breaking is not an example of a good game. Base Skyrim costs less, works better, and has more content without even considering (unofficial) mods.

Have you ever done squats? Because in Skyrim VR, if you are a sneaky-boo, you will be doing thousands*. One of the main things about Skyrim VR as compared to the normal version is probably the physical aspect - you will become one with the Dragonborn. When you move, the Dragonborn moves. When you squat, the Dragonborn squats. Depending on how you play, it can be quite a workout - but it's some of the most fun and exciting times I have ever had in any game - and of course it can be played in more relaxed fashion as well. Personally I always give the cows a few pats on the head before going on adventures - but this entire game is glorious when you experience it on an immersive 1:1 scale, surrounding you. I think most aspects of Skyrim as a game have been discussed, but I recommend modding for certain aspects and personal preferences, there are some QoL, combat and immersion additions for the VR version outside of any story or DLC type mods. Started out playing vanilla and found a few things to tweak here and there - you know how it goes. But with utmost certainty I recommend this game even now when it's reaching seniority. The Greybeards await you... Dragonborn. *Sorry, but be careful not to hurt your knees

I’ve been a fan of The Elder Scrolls since seeing Oblivion footage back in 2005 and getting hooked on how the series worked. When Skyrim came out, I was on it immediately, and I’ve collected most of the TES series since. ESO is great, but not always the best when you want to roleplay. But the real focus here is Skyrim VR. It absolutely feels like VR was just tacked on, and it desperately needs some major TLC — but it’s not all bad. With the right mods, this game sings. My biggest gripe is that Bugthesda basically abandoned this version. Skyrim VR should have gotten its own Anniversary treatment, taking the best VR mods and making them official. If they actually upgraded and fixed everything, this game would be incredible. Honestly, hand this thing over to Flat2VR and let them work their magic. There’s so much potential here. I’m all for modding, but on Linux it’s not always easy to get everything working the way it should, so I mostly play vanilla VR. Even then, I still jump into it from time to time because it’s Skyrim — and Skyrim in VR, even in its rough state, is still something special. Come on, Bethesda. Get the lead out and give the VR community something more. And by the Nine, please let TES VI be playable in VR.

Тодд Говард решил в очередной раз перепродать скайрим в новой упаковке и получилось как всегда... настраиваешь и чинишь дольше чем играешь. Возможно нечестно катить бочку прямо на VR-версию, часть проблем это вообще классика ванильной игры, но накопилось многое. Из объективных косяков самой игры (даже без модов): Квест "Кровь на снегу" в Виндхельме - застрял намертво на диалоге с Йорлейфом, чинил через консольные команды Квест "Белая склянка" - баг с выдачей награды от Квинтуса, тоже потребовал ручного вмешательства через setstage Покупка домов - деньги списываются, ключ не выдаётся, дом формально не считается купленным После убийства драконов тела не превращаются в кости, соответственно душа не поглощается, 4+ дракона подряд без душ Квест на поиск слов силы от Седобородых в какой-то момент просто перестал генерировать метки на карте, а потом и вовсе перестал выдаваться заново Отдельно специфика VR-версии: Устаревший движок 1.4.15, из-за чего огромная часть модов с SE несовместима напрямую, нужны отдельные VR-порты почти всего Базовая механика ближнего боя без модов ощущается как "помахать рукой перед противником" Полноценный моддинг требует довольно глубокого понимания MO2/SKSEVR/FNIS, порог входа совсем не для новичков. По итогу после нескольких десятков часов возни с модами и попыток починить квестовые баги через консоль дошло до критической точки, после команды на выдачу всех заклинаний (psb) сохранения стали крашить игру полностью, звук поехал, восстановить прогресс не вышло. Игра сама по себе классическая и в VR-режиме способна дать уникальный опыт, но будьте готовы к тому, что без активного модостроительства и постоянного дебага через консоль VR-версия ощущается сырой даже спустя годы после релиза.

Положительный обзор ТОЛЬКО с учетом того, что это играется с модами. Да, я поставил MGO, и это действительно крутой опыт. Если игра покупается под дальнейшую её модификацию - только тогда ее можно порекомендовать. А ванилла - это просто смешно. Концентрация бездарности, жадности и наглости Тодда Говарда и его парашной конторы. ЕСЛИ СОБИРАЕТЕСЬ ПОКУПАТЬ ЭТО И ИГРАТЬ БЕЗ МОДОВ - ОДУМАЙТЕСЬ!
